Eligibility Criteria for JTET 2026
Candidates must meet the following academic and age requirements to be eligible to appear for JTET 2026:

| Para Teachers | Relaxation equal to service period (up to maximum 58 years) |
| One-time Relaxation | Maximum 9 years relaxation due to exams not being conducted after 2016 |

| Primary Level (Level-1) | Prescribed academic and professional qualifications for Classes 1 to 5 |
| Upper Primary Level (Level-2) | Prescribed academic and professional qualifications for Classes 6 to 8 |
| Marks Relaxation | 5% relaxation in minimum marks for SC/ST/PVGT/BC/Divyang candidates |

JTET Exam Pattern 2026
JTET 2026 will be conducted as an offline, multiple-choice question (MCQ) based examination. The syllabus and pattern differ according to the teaching level applied for:

JTET Educational Qualification 2026
JTET Educational Qualification 2026 differs for Paper 1 (Primary Level) and Paper 2 (Upper Primary Level). Candidates must fulfil the required eligibility criteria based on the level they are applying for.
JTET Paper 1 (Primary Level: Classes 1–5)
Candidates applying for JTET Paper 1 must have any one of the following qualifications:

| Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE Regulations 2002, for candidates admitted before 09.12.2007) |
| Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 4-year B.El.Ed |
| Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Special Education |
| Graduation with a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) |
JTET Paper 2 (Upper Primary Level: Classes 6–8)
Candidates applying for JTET Paper 2 must have any one of the following qualifications:
